Sim Card FAQs

What are the benefits of getting a new SIM card for my mobile phone?
There are several reasons why you might want a new SIM card:
1. A SIM card allows you to move to a 30 day contract.
2. A SIM card allows you to change network if you want to take advantage of better reception, lower prices or better customer service.
3. If you have upgraded to a new phone, you can re-activate your old phone with a SIM card, and give it to a friend or family member.

Will I have to change my mobile number?
No, you may be able to keep your number. Check the details of the offer.

Is my phone compatible with a new SIM card?
You may need to unlock your phone before you can use a new SIM card. if you are already on contract, you'll need to wait until your existing contract expires, otherwise you'll end up paying twice!

How difficult is it to change a SIM card?
It's no more difficult than replacing a battery in the handset.

Can I use my sim in another phone?

Asked by Linda Thorpe from U.K on 27th Feb 2016
I am on contract with EE which is fine but do not like the samsung galaxy ace 4 phone. Can I buy a sim free basic phone and insert sim to use until end of contract?

Reply by S21 from UK on 27th Feb 2016
Linda, that should be OK. The new phone may require a different sized sim card (the Ace 4 uses a micro SIM), but you ought to be able to get a free sim card from EE if required.
