Samsung UE40H6410 review

 Review: June 2014

Last updated November 2014

Rating: 5 stars

In a nutshell: The Samsung UE40H6410 is a mid-range 40 inch TV with designer looks. It's good value for money and delivers outstanding Smart TV, good picture quality and a wide range of connectivity options.

If you like the features and pricing of Samsung's 2014 Series 6 TVs but you yearn for something with a bit more designer style, then the H6410 is the one for you. As its name suggests, the UE40H6410 is the same as the UE40H6400, but with a design twist. Instead of a black bezel around the screen, the H6410 has a white ultra-narrow bezel. Instead of a standard quad stand, it has an attractive Arc stand. The stand doesn't allow you to swivel the screen, but that's the price you pay for style!

Apart from the styling differences, this TV is the same as the H6400 model. The 40 inch version is a good size for a small to medium room. Picture quality is excellent with wide viewing angles, bright saturated colours and nice dark blacks. It's 3D capable, with two pairs of glasses included. Smart TV is outstanding and runs smoothly thanks to the quadcore processor.

Energy consumption is extremely low, at just 50W in normal use, giving it an A+ rating. Connectivity is faultless too, with built-in Wi-Fi Direct, 4 HDMI ports and a wide range of other connection options, including wireless streaming of content from compatible tablets and smartphones.

Update (3 Nov 2014): The price of the H6410 has fallen significantly in recent months and we've changed our rating from 4 stars to 5 stars to reflect this.

I have ordered this tv and am looking forward to it arriving next week, i have brought Samsung products for quite a few years now and have never had any problems with customer service. I have always found them to be very happy to help and won't have anything else. watch this space for update when i've had the tv for a few days.
Message sent from Samsung galaxy S5.

This tv really ticks all the boxes everything works the picture in standard is very good in Hd is stunning. The interface is very smooth and easy to use with no real lag and everything works.. Comes with 2 remotes one standered and the other is a smart which works well when using the internet .
I bought this set March 2015 for 325 which was the best price by far at the time. I can't believe how much Tv's have come down in price and have improved so much.

Tv came with wrong size arc feet/stand. After sales from Samsung was pathetic. I bought from John Lewis and they passed my complaint and me to the Samsung help line. The guy's English was so poor that it took me 3 attempts at every sentence to make myself understood! They would not send the correct part without me firsts sending them proof of purchase, despite the fact that the call was transferred from John Lewis technical and John Lewis staff stated to me that this was a repeat Samsung problem which was supposed to have been countermeasured! They would not budge so I asked to speak to a supervisor. 14 minutes of waiting and listening to Samsung adverts was too much to bear. I got back onto JL and sorted a replacement set. 5 Days later a replacement came with the exact same problem. Pitch of the holes in the stand were 10 mm shorter than the alignment holes in the back of the tv. Back to John Lewis technical as after all my contract is with them. Guy at Exeter said he sort it out with Samsung, but instead he left me a message for ME to call Samsung giving me a reference number. I won't bore everyone with the details, but after numerous discussions with Samsung reps who's grasp of English was poor, but not so poor as they couldn't quote the Samsung mantra "send proof of purchase". I tried to help them to improve their process in the Hungarian factory but their unhelpful procedures put me right off, so I have passed the problem back to John Lewis. I would have sent the damn thing back but my wife likes the white casing which is why we bought it. Neither Samsung nor John Lewis technical support have covered themselves in glory and needless to say I shall never purchase another Samsung product! Let's hope the build quality is better than the accessory control and the after sales service.
