Samsung RS7677FHCSL review

 Review: March 2016

Rating: 5 stars

In a nutshell: At S21, we've reviewed dozens of fridge-freezers over the past year, but the Samsung RS7677FHCSL is the first one that's impressed us so much that we've awarded it a 5-star "outstanding" rating. This American-style fridge-freezer is exceptional in every way, yet it's priced very competitively for what it offers.

Design & features

The Samsung RS7677FHCSL is a H-Series fridge freezer with a Homebar. It's one of the very largest American-style fridge-freezers available, and has more freezing capacity than any other model we've reviewed to date. With a 90cm width, you'll need a spacious kitchen to keep this monster, and it's a lot deeper than most appliances too, although not especially tall. It also requires plumbing, to feed water to the icemaker and watercooler.

The machine has a beautiful high quality appearance, with a polished steel finish that's bound to create a good first impression. On the front of the freezer door you'll find a blue LED display panel that doubles as a touch control for the ice and water dispenser. The doors feature a special recessed handle design with an easy-open mechanism. Just a light touch with one finger is enough to open the door.

The RS7677FHCSL has one special feature that seems to be unique - a Homebar. This is a panel in the fridge compartment that can open independently of the fridge itself. Pop open the panel, reach inside and grab a chilled drink. You can even use the open door as a shelf for pouring drinks. It's perfect for parties.

Inside, the freezer compartment is absolutely massive, with 184 litres of net storage. The transparent icemaker, which has a capacity of 2kg, is built into the door to maximise space. The freezer has its own LED lighting and independent cooling system.

On the right hand side, the fridge also has loads of flexible storage with fully adjustable shelves. Everything is huge, with big box drawers large enough to store whole lettuces. The fridge door has a good amount of space for bottles too. In total there are two big salad boxes and 5 open compartments. The whole area is lit by bright LED lights.

Efficiency, noise & reliability

If you're expecting that a massive appliance like this will be costly to run, you'll be right. Big fridge-freezers obviously need more electricity than smaller ones, as they're so much bigger inside, but for its size the Samsung RS7677FHCSL is very energy efficient, with an A+ rating.

What's really surprising is how quietly this appliance runs. With a noise rating of just 39dB, we've yet to find any fridge-freezer that runs more silently than this.

When it comes to reliability, you can be assured that Samsung is a very reliable manufacturer, and that this premium model has been built to the highest standards, and ought to last for years.

Conclusion - an outstanding appliance

As we mentioned earlier, this is the first fridge-freezer we've given a 5 star rating. Every other fridge-freezer we've reviewed has been compromised in some way. The Samsung RS7677FHCSL doesn't put a foot wrong.

If you're looking for a high-end American-style fridge-freezer, and don't want to spend silly amounts of money, then we'd urge you to consider this model. There are similar high-end models from Samsung and LG that are as good as the RS7677FHCSL, but they cost significantly more. Although this appliance is far from cheap, we consider that it offers superb value for money.
