Design & features
This Samsung RB7000 fridge-freezer crams an enormous amount of storage into a standard 60cm width. It achieves this through Samsung's Space Max technology which uses an extra-slim wall duct to maximise internal space. Both the fridge and freezer capacities are enormous, and freezing storage in particular is cavernous.
On the outside, the RB38J7635SA gives off very high-quality vibes with its beautiful metallic Silver finish and built-in water dispenser. At the same time, the door handles have a very practical design and the doors are easy to open.
The fridge interior is well laid out, although the water dispenser does take up quite a lot of door space. A Fresh Zone at the bottom of the fridge is intended to keep meat and fish as fresh as possible. Above that is a crisper box for vegetables and salad. There are three glass shelves, a wine rack, and door storage, as well as the reservoir for the water dispenser. The All-around Cooling system blows cold air out through multiple vents on every shelf level, so it maintains a constant temperature throughout the fridge. The control panel is internal and located at the top of the fridge.
The freezer has 3 compartments and an ice tray. A "power freeze" function is available for rapid freezing.
As you'd expect, this is a fully frost-free appliance.
Efficiency, noise & reliability
The RB38J7635SA is very energy efficient, with a high A++ rating. Despite its enormous storage capacity, it uses less electricity than much smaller rivals. So while it's expensive to buy, you'll claw back some of this initial cost in savings on your electricity bill.
Samsung's digital inverter compressor makes it very quiet in operation, and is also supremely reliable, enabling the manufacturer to include a 10-year warranty on the compressor.
Conclusion - a truly premium product
The Samsung RB38J7635SA is surely one of the best fridge-freezers you can get for a standard 60cm width installation. It looks and feels premium, and comes with enormous fridge and freezer storage space, plus a wealth of high-end features. It's one of the most energy-efficient fridge-freezers available, and is quiet too. The built-in water dispenser is a useful bonus feature, and overall it's a very practical appliance that's easy to live with.
Although it costs a lot to buy, it's built to last, and with the 10-year warranty on the compressor, its lifetime ownership cost could be surprisingly low.
