Samsung E350 Review

Phone rating:

Review: August 2005.

The Samsung E350 is a mid-range camera phone with a slide design, similar in looks to the high-end Samsung D500. Samsung's slide phones have proven to be very popular, and the E350 offers most of the features that have made the D500 such a big hit, but at an affordable price and in a more compact design.

The E350 comes with a VGA digital camera with flash and digital zoom, plus the bonus of a video camera. The screen is good quality, being a bright active matrix display with 65,536 colours. The E350 features an MP3 player that can support both MP3 and AAC formats. Ringtones can also be MP3 tracks, and 40 voices are supported giving a good sound quality.

As well as all the things that you'd expect from this kind of phone (Java games, multimedia messaging, etc) there are a few extras. The integrated speakerphone is welcome, as is Samsung's voice clarity technology that automatically senses the volume of the background noise and will increase the volume and clarity of the incoming call to make it more audible. Connectivity is good, with both USB and infrared supported (but no Bluetooth), and there's a generous 30 Mbytes of memory, which is very useful for storing video clips and MP3 tracks.

The E350 has now been replaced by the even better E370.

Features of the Samsung E350 include:

  • VGA camera (640 x 480 pixels) with flash and digital zoom (x4) & effects
  • Video recorder
  • Display: TFT, 65,536 colours, 128 x 160 pixels
  • MP3 player (MP3 / AAC / AAC+ formats)
  • Speakerphone
  • Voice clarity
  • 40-voice polyphonic ringtones / MP3 ringtones
  • Messaging: SMS, EMS, MMS (with learning T9)
  • Games: Forgotten Warrior, Freekick, Arch Angel, plus downloadable Java games
  • Wallpers / screensavers
  • Personal Information Management: Phonebook, Calendar, Scheduler, To do list, Clock / Worldtime, Alarm, Currency converter, Calculator, Memo book, Stop watch, Count down timer, vCard, vCalendar
  • Caller ID (Text/Photo/Video)
  • Memory: 30 Mbytes
  • Connectivity: USB, Infrared (IrDa)
  • WAP 2.0, GPRS class 10
  • Triband
  • Size: 85 x 45 x 21 mm
  • Weight: 75g
  • Talktime: 3 hours
  • Battery standby: up to 240 hours

I think the Samsung E350 is an excellent mobile! I had the mobile in black and grey at first but i lost that mobile and i have now got it in pink and silver. The mobile has everything you need, except blue tooth but having infa red makes up for it. It is small and cute and it just fits nicely in to my bag or pocket. Sending and receiving picture messages is brilliant because it is fast and easy. I would recommend the Samsung E350 to anyone!

I got this phone today as a christmas present in pink. When I saw how small and pretty it was I just thout WOW! I have carried it around all day, constantly sliding it open and playing with it. The battery life has stayed all day not losing a single bar despite me using it 24/7. The camera and video quality are perfect and there is plenty of room. The phonebook is easy to scroll throuh and can hold 230 numbers. The infrared works well and is just as good as bluetooth. It video records for up to an hour and has loads of brilliant frames to snap pictures in. My cousin came round with her siemens poppy and it had about 7 silly frames, no bluetooth, no infrared and a Ok ish camera. She said she only liked it because of the flower. This samsung has a good quality, chunky feel, with a smooth slide and no rattles. It has plenty games to keep me amused and I love it! Buy this phone!

I thought it was a great phone when I saw it, until I realised that I only had to touch the bottom of the phone and the battery would fall out !!! When the phone was in my bag 90% of the time when I went to get it out to use it the battery was off and loose in my bag. Needless to say I have decided to sell my phone, thought maybe I would try the E630 instead. Hopefully the battery will stay in place.

It's got everything I need and so much more in such a small and inexpensive package. I thought of buying D500 but when the store showed me this phone, I fell in love with it instantly just by it's stylish design and the cute size and weight. Then I was surprised with the mp3 player and the display quality for such a small phone. When I got hold of D500, I thought it was too bulky and heavy so I bought this one. So far, I am not disappointed with it. My friend has this more expensive E530 but we both agree that mine is better, except the smaller camera resolution (I don't take pictures as much anyway). Anyway, the picture/video quality is great, the display is so clear, the mp3 player is loud and the quality is great, and using the phone is so easy to learn (I used to own a nokia). I don't know what others think but everybody here says the phone is so masculine, so that's great. It has no bluetooth but I have an IrDA adapter so no problem there and the memory is enough to stor e a lot of mp3 and pictures . The battery life is not that good (about 3-4 days) but that's fine for such a small phone with gigantic features. Everything about it is so cool, I have no regrets in buying it. It's the D500, jr. If you're thinking of buying D500, think again.

Had a similar problem getting my Samsung YEPP MP3 player to work last year and gave up in the end. My SP is orange and I bought this phone as the signal on my old A800 was always pants, this phone is pants too. I got this phone as a replacement for my samsung e330, which got stolen (which is an awsome phone for under £100). At first I was a apprehensive as this phone is not as attractive, also the buttons are small and hard to use at first, however this phone has so many more features and a huge memory. When I was buying the phone the shop assistant tried to persuad me to get a sony ericsson as this is the only other phone in the same price range with the features that I wanted, but it has bluetooth. I was told that infared would not allow me to tranfer pictures as the files would be too big, however I can transfer pictures, videos (which are too large for mms) and mp3 which can be set as ringtones) both ways. All you need is an IrDa adapter which plugs into the USB port (about £8). This phone is amazing, and in my opinion samsung are the best value on the market (except for sony ericsson, but thier phones are ugly and to big for my to put in my pocket). This phone is like the e330 but with all the bad bits (small memory, have to activate outer display etc) ironed out and with extra features. However in loud places ringtones and sms tones can be hard to hear even on the loudest level.

First off, slide phones rock, starts tiny but opened is easy to use. Whole thing feels quality, very solid keys, well lit up for night operation. Navigation is a doddle, no book needed, just push keys and it all comes clear. Most features you need, mp3 player, camera, video, largish memory (40mb), flash that doubles as (very bright)torch. Only down sides are most of the ringtones are abysmal(delete them and download more)and the cover for the charging port feels cheap and rushed, easily broken, Samsung could have tried harder. No data cable included, so I can't comment on transfer files from pc etc. excellent phone if you don't want to shell out for a D600

People thinking about getting the d500 don't bother, the only difference is the colour screen who cares you can change that. It's got the internet the java games everything and more. If you think about the d500 is just another thing that will pass on by, this is for a lifetime. If you take a look at the pictures of the d500 and then e350, the e350 looks much more sleeker and stylish, plus the square look of the d500 is horrible. People out there you can save money on the e350. Now come on you decide.

I was so excited about upgrading, i didnt know which one to get, i was so confused, especialley after reading this site! 02 offered me the lovely E350 i was so excited when i received it, that lasted a whole 5 minutes! Im so disapointed, the phone is rubbish, not something i can cope with for 12 months! I cant even have a conversation, its such a struggle to hear the other person, its so frustrating! The tones for your texts are pathectic, i can even hear it! Even when i tried to download a game, i couldnt fine one for my handset. Maybe its me, or maybe ive got a faulty one. The rest of the phone i cant fault, i mean i had a e700 before, i was so happy with it. Anyway i have called 02 this morning, im going to replace this handset with a different phone, i recken the new sony k750i sounds like a safe bet, as i had the k700i before. I though about swappinhg it for the E530 i dont think i wanna risk it though.

I have only had the phone for a couple of days and am just returning it to O2 to be replaced by another phone. Tis isn't becuse I don't like the phone - because I do - it has a lot of positive features, however the one that I was very disapointed with was the battery life. Coming from using a Nokia 3100 which seemed to last for ever no matter how many texts calls and games of Snake I played I was really disappointed with this phone. After less than 50 mins of calls and about an hour in total of fiddling with the phone after it's first charge the battery is virtually run down. Not really good enough for using for work where the only chargers lying around are Nokia ones. However that said I really liked the Samsung interface, which after a Nokia phone was still intuitive enough to pick up immediately. I wasn't bothered by the MP3 player so won't rate that, the camera seemed okay, and I picked up texting on the slightly different format easily. The phone looks and feels great, not too small for my big hands either but fitted nicely in the pocket and with a low SAR - 0.46 (I think) wasn't too bad to keep there either! The USB interface is a bit of an exaggeration as I couldn't see a way to connect to a PC but worked great for the headphones. This meant that pics could only come off by sending a MMS to my email or by infrared which my PC doesn't have so were costly. Ringtones weren't a great requirement for me but again there were some great sounding ones on there built in. Games were okay - though nothing that could take the place of Snake for me! Overall I would say get the phone if you don't actually chat that much on it and won't a nice looking phone to carry around - or don't mind charging it often. I am going to replace it with a Sony K750i which I hear has great battery life but it is with regret I am getting rid of this fun small phone.

On first impressions the E350 is very light and compact so you'll hardly notice it in your pocket. In my opinion Samsung implement the most intuitive menu structures in their phones and this is no exception. The quality of the VGA camera and speaker phone (playing mp3's) are extremely crisp and clear for a phone this size. The sound quality of phone calls is also above average. The drawbacks (as mentioned by others on this page) are the exclusion of bluetooth and the 30MB's of memory. The keypad could be a bit bigger. However, the size and functionality of the E350 makes it an excellent mid-range phone.

Just got this phone on a freebie which is always good and I think it is the nuts, MP3 ring tones, camera, small, easy to use what more do you need in a phone. Menu structure is cool I mainly use Nokia's and find most other phone menus dyer but with the e350 that is not the case.. If you are thinking of getting one I's say get it now.....

The E350 must be one of the smallest & lightest mobile phones to date. It looks very similar to the very popular Samsung D500 and the Samsung D600, although with this handset Samsung have taken non-essential features in order to produce an incredibly compact, lightweight and easy to use handset. * 65,000 colour screen * games * GPRS technology * infrared data link * and Much, Much More Although it is small the E350 still comes with some very impressive features such as the built-in VGA Camera with video recording option, the 65,000 colour TFT display and the integrated MP3 and AAC player. The Samsung E350 only weighs a light 75 grams and also comes with a 32Mb dynamic memory so you can allocate memory for different areas such as the gallery and MP3 storage. There is also an impressive loud speaker included in the Samsung E350 to chat handsefree or for more than one person. This is the ideal take anywhere pocket-sized mobile phone. Overall I Highly Recomend this Phone
