Panasonic TX-L32XM6B review

 Review: November 2013

Rating: 2 stars

In a nutshell: The Panasonic TX-L32XM6B is a poor choice of TV with below-average picture quality, audio and connectivity.

Design & looks

The TX-L32XM6B is similar in style to the Panasonic TX-L32E6B, but with a glossy black finish.

Picture quality

The L32XM6B uses an IPS LED display. This is capable of generating very bright images and it will perform best in brightly-lit rooms or for daytime watching. In darkened rooms, its lack of contrast becomes more apparent and there is some cloudiness in evidence from the LED backlighting.

We should also point out that this is not a Full 1080p HD screen, although it supports 720p HD. This makes images a little less sharper, and is another reason for us to mark down the picture quality of this model. Overall we can't recommend this aspect of the TV.

Audio quality

This model has two full range speakers, with V Audio simulated surround sound. The total power of 5W x 2 is less than most other TVs and the lack of bass in particular means that the sound is generally underwhelming.

There's no Smart TV on the XM6B and connectivity is rather limited. There are just 2 HDMI ports and an AV input for connecting up devices like a DVD player or games console. An ethernet port is present and a USB slot too, which enables you to play videos or photos on the TV.

The TV comes with a built-in Freeview HD tuner too, but overall the connectivity options are very limited.

Conclusion - avoid

There are plenty of reasons to avoid this TV - the sub-standard picture quality, below-average audio quality, lack of Smart TV and limited connectivity. We'd much rather buy the lovely Panasonic TX-L32E6B instead.
