Panasonic TX-40CX700B review
|Review: August 2015|
Last updated November 2015
In a nutshell: You'll need a good reason to spend £600 on a 40-inch TV, so here are a few good reasons to buy the Panasonic Viera TX-40CX700B: UHD (4K) resolution, a super bright panel with incredible contrast, excellent motion handling, accurate colours, 3D, stunning design, excellent connectivity and Smart TV.
The Panasonic TX-40CX700B is the 40-inch version of the 50-inch Viera TX-50CX700B we reviewed previously, so read our full review of that model to find out more. Here, we'll just try to justify our 5-star rating, since £600 is quite a lot of money to spend on a 40-inch TV.
It's true that UHD (4K) is less compelling on a 40-inch screen than on a 50-inch TV, but the 5-star rating doesn't depend on this being a 4K television. The fact is that this TV does everything right. The "Super Bright" VA panel produces images that are exceptionally bright and vivid, with extremely deep blacks. Colour reproduction in "True Cinema" mode is very accurate. The screen is fast, with excellent motion control, and unlike most Samsung TVs we've reviewed in 2015, viewing angles are good too. It's also 3D-capable, which is another advantage over comparable Samsungs.
In addition, the CX700B looks stunning, with its ultraslim silver bezel and metal blade-style stand. The Firefox-based Smart TV system is comprehensive, fast, and easy to use.
In conclusion, this TV has everything, and there's nothing we don't like. So yes, it costs a little more than the equivalent Samsung model - the 40JU6400 - but we think it's worth the extra. We've included it in our list of best 40-inch TVs this year.
This TV is exclusive to Currys / PC World.

This TV was bought based on good reviews. I have an appreciation of good black levels and decent motion quality. And this TV does both. And it's resolution means no pixels can be seen. Plus it does 3d if needed. The sound is easily given the bass boost it needs. I have only used some of the apps and watch bluray films on it. The options to change settings are menu based and sometimes fiddly bit they work well and I'm writing this because I am very happy with this TV.

Just bought this to replace a broken LG.
It has only my Virgin TiVo box and my DVD player plugged in, so cannot comment on freeview etc.
Brilliant picture quality, ok sound, very good looking well built set. Yes, it was expensive but well worth it.
