Review

There's no camera on the 3120 although there is an option to attach Nokia's "fun camera" if you want to take pics. The display is a passive matrix display that isn't easy to read in sunlight and has just 4096 colours, although that's all you can realistically expect at this price point. The handsfree speaker is a welcome touch, and the battery life is good. One fun feature is that the backlight flashes rythmically when the phone rings.

This is an acceptable entry-level phone, but quite cheap and flimsy-looking. The keypad is conventional, but not as easy to use as it could be. Not the best entry-level phone.

Nice phone. Slim, light, plenty of features to satisfy an average user. Drop calls are usually a result of poor coverage - not the phone. With the ongoing work on 3g networks I'm sure that will be sorted. As for the 3120 I say 4/5. Nothing is ever perfect :-)

All it's really missing is a camera. The size of the phone is great - pocket friendly and small enough to fit into a purse! I am upgrading this month to something wit a camera and mp3 but love this phone and recommend it to people who need a good phone, without the necessities like camera and music.

I had a nokia 3120 for a couple of years and got great service from it. Of course it's a no frills phone but had all I needed for just reliable phone calls. This phone, as all the nokia phones, gets reception in areas that more higher priced phones don't. I have been in elevators, metal storage facilities, the hull of a ship and still received calls. It is also a very sturdy phone. For basic phone service it's a great phone.

I have one of these for work use. Advantages - long battery life, lightweight, loud ringtones. Disadvantages - the buttons are too small with wobbly feel, battery/charger indicator is hard to see, you can't hear what people are saying unless you put the phone right next to your ear. My first impressions when i got the phone were that it was cheap and nasty with a plasticky feeble feel to it. I don't like the way it feels to operate but the texting is efficient.

I've had mine for over a year now, and it works as well as the day I bought it. It's robust, reliable, and it's also small compared to a lot of newer phones. If you just want a phone to make calls and receive messages, then this one will suit you fine.

It depends on what you want from a phone. It doesn't come with many toys, so some will say it's boring. I wanted a basic phone, and this fitted the bill perfectly. It has good battery life (recharge about every 10 days), it has a good selection of ring tones (loud or soft) and it's reliable. AND it's a Nokia - easy to use. What's not so good is that backlit keypad is hard to see in the daylight, and although the covers are changeable, I haven't found one that elimnates that problem.

When I decided to buy this phone in 2003, I was actually looking for a basic phone with pop-port for attachable camera. It would have been cool to get a cam-phone, but economics dictates quality over luxury. Never encountered any problem with this one. I bought a cam-phone last year (Motorola C-651), but still prefer to use this one as my main mobile phone. This may not have MP3 ringtone or integrated camera but the resolution is next to A1. I got real value for my money. Am planning to get a 3-G phone and could swap an older phone, but I don't think I'm just ready to give this up yet.

I migrated from AT&T(w a Siemens also good) to Cingular. This fone is actualy a replacement for my first and second, and much more expensive choices. The previous phones were the top of the line models from Samsung and Motorola and were both unreliable POS's. The Nokia may not have the built in camera but one is available to add on. I am a biologist, surfer, skater, boater, etc so my fones take a beating-the Nokias deffinitely hold up the best. Plus, even though you can't download mp3 rings, you can use the digital voice recorder to make your own of the songs YOU want-it's easy and you can get some PUNK on your fone while everyone else's plays pop songs. Anyway, its a good piece-get one...

Overall this phone is ok. It is a cheap and basic modle for those that do not want anything fancy. My dad has been given this as an upgrade from the 3410, and although it is an improvement, generally it feels cheaply made and does not seem like it will stand up to any form of punishment. The only gripes are as follows - Keys are hard work for big fingers Back cover that was supplied was very hard to fit and still does not seem to sit properly Phone feels very cheap and flimsy compared to Nokia 3xxx models of the past. So going by the gripes i deduct one star for the keys and one star for the overall cheapness! If you want a phone that has basic features but in a modern shell this is for you, however if you want a phone that is built to last and feels well made and is just generally good then steer clear of Nokia, a company that is trading of past glory and reputation that is no longer market leader, head towards my personal favorite Samsung, or consider SonyEricsson or Motorola carefully. Peace

However, the speakerphone feature does have one problem, because you cannot begin a call with the speaker enabled. You must wait until the call connects and then switch it to speaker. If someone in Japan had somehow thought of this in it's development, the phone would be flawless. Other than that, it's the best.

This is simply a great phone because of its friendly keyboard, easy menu navigation, and long battery life. Plus it is small and light-weight. The sound quality is fine for me. (I have had Motorola, Nokia ande Samsung in the past). It is pretty basic, I suppose, for what you can get for twice the cost but it does what I want extremely well.

I was looking for a basic phone for my father. This phone is user-friendly. But the fonts are not dark or bold enough. the speaker is wonderful and helpful.

Nokia still have a lot to learn about keypads and ease of use. At least the keys are bigger than some offerings - but still a daft idea to have larger ones down the middle. The lower case text on the keys is microscopic!!! Yet there is space on the buttons for more eye-sight friendly sizes. Fashion beats functionality again. Unfortunately, company issue so forced to use this Nokia. Nokia, fire your head of design!

I just upgraded to a samsung e700, because i spilt ink all over my 3120 and it died. The 3120 is a nice look, nice weight, not so nice price, and very nice battery life. I think after a while it begins to look a bit dull, and the shiny bit round the keypad looks tacky, there's no camera either, but that's not the end pof the world.

this phone is my first phone and before i got it i thought it wouldn't be that good but when i did im still impressed you can send things to it as multimedia messaging(because it doesn't have bluetooth)including camera pictures so i have loads of pics of me on it. absolutely outstanding for a non-camera no-mp3 player no bluetooth phone!

This phone is amazing. The controls are amazing, perfect menu, sound not perfect but I just figured out how to increase the volume. It is just amazingly comfortable and easy to program and personalize. Never had a better phone. Only thing that would make it better is a camera, and I think there is a identical nokia phone with a camera only problem is it costs more. Get this phone it will never cease to impress you!

I bought one of these for my girlfriend and she loved it. The build quality is really good - no creaking case, probably helps that you cannot change the covers so it fits together much tighter. The styling is really nice. All the features work as advertised, the display is not as good as my 6230 though. You can really notice the lack of contrast and it looks a bit washed out (although at 100euro you can't complain that much). Lots of nice little features like deleting oldest sms messages when the memory fills up but some features seem needlessly missing (like text size in browser and grid menu view instead of one menu icon per screen).
