Nokia 2650 Review
Phone rating:
Review: October 2004.
The Nokia 2650 clamshell phone, released in October 2004, has the kind of specification
that Nokia's rivals were releasing over a year earlier. In fact, the phone has
nearly identical features to the Nokia 3100 that
was released 15 months earlier! The 3100 had the advantages of being a nice-looking,
lightweight phone, whereas the 2650 is neither nice-looking nor lightweight.
It is hard to say anything very positive about this phone, and it confirms
the impression that Nokia don't yet "get" clamshells. Our advice would
be: "look elsewhere!"

- Vibration alert
- Dual band (EGSM 900/1800)

I love my Nokia 2650! I love the way it lights up and flashes a gorgeous
neon blue when I have a call or message. I like the tones. I especially
love the key pad. It's very tactile and I've never seen one quite like
it. It might be outdated now, compared to all the flash smartphones
and whatnot, but it does what I want it to do. I'm now onto my 4th,
but now have to but them "pre-owned" from a famous auction site!!! Who
cares what the smart people say....it's mine and I love it to bits!!!!!!

I have now been the owner of this phone for 24 hours and find it exactly
as I envisaged (expected). I had formed my opinions after reading the
reviews on this page and find that for a third world network and prices,
this phone is great. I have just upgraded my 5-yr-old Nokia 3310 and
find this a great no frills replacement, especially since I am 54 yrs
old and work from the house. Thanks guys for your comments. I am banking
on the Nokia name for durability and long battery life.

Haven't bought it yet but intend to do it soon. Having seen at the stores,
only two aspects came to mind which would have made it look more appealing
to m and I might have bought it instantly. 1. Would have become more
feature-full if Nokia engineers would installed a little LED screen
instead of the place where they put their huge logo near the folded
end of the clam shell. On that screen, it would diplay caller ID while
the shell is still closed and hanging on your waist belt (LED side up)
and would display Date and Time at other times. Would have suited those
who have stopped wearing watches since mobiles arrived. I sure have
for one. :) 2. A push button strategically placed near the thumb of
the hand which, pressing of which would automatically spring open the
clam shell, this would make the clamshell opening possible without utilising
the other hand. This is a requirement sometimes while you are drving
or engaged in some other work with the left hand. These two features,
if incorporated, might make this phone much more appealing to me at
least...I can't speak for a million others though.

An excellent all rounder the only disadvantage is the lack of bluetooth,

Having had a phone from just about every company, with all the latest
cameras, touch screens and gizmos, I suddenly realised that all I really
wanted a phone to do was 1) make calls and 2) send messages. That is
exactly what this phone does well. It is a clamshell so i dont have
to worry about the screen being scratched. It vibrates and is loud enough
to attract my attention in the car (with my music up full blast!). The
nokia software is still the simplest and easiest to use. The raised
buttons and their positioning make it the easiest to use of any phone
I have had. Finally the nightmare of my P910i is behind me!

Great basic flip phone. Cool, great battery, excellent. Only problem
is the coverage (Signal) on these are absolutely hopeless! honestly
believe me. I have a nokia 3315, which gets reasonibly good coverage.
On the nokia 3315 i can sometimes have 3 out of 4 bars of coverage and
on the 2650 it won't have any coverage at all. There is no apparent
reason for this and i have had others with the same problem. Both phones
are on the same network and should pick up similar quantiy/quanlity
of coverage. But if you live in a place with full signal difinityl consider
this phone. its great.

isn't the greatest phone in the world but for the price of €109
u can't expect there to be a polaroid and half a computer inside. I
just needed a fone with 3 features, 1. I have to able to make a phone
call ... 2. Because of my emmenthal cheese memory, I needed a simple
and use friendly agenda ... 3. I wanted a clam, because one way or another
I keep on disabling the key-block in my pocket... This phone has all
that for a great price A surplus is that it looks great... I have the

It is the ****** of phones... Does exactly what it says on the tin.
I've never experienced trouble with signal and the talk and stand-by
times are certainly competitive and better than other phones I have
had. You have to ask yourself what you want from a phone before you
buy one. Those who wanted a camera-phone - well derrrr! - should not
have bought this one! Also, those who feel it is large are also probably
not very good at parking cars - or learnt from someone very generous
what six inches is! If you want a small, attractive phone that makes
and receives calls and texts and you like clamshells the I can't recommend
this more thoroughly. Trust me, I'm a doctor!

I would like to rebutt some myths about this phone: 1) It is big: WRONG.
It is not big. In fact I find myself often panicking, trying to look
for it! (No, I'm not old- I'm 22). It's very small and sleek, fit nicely
in a small evening handbag. I notice many people who said it is big
is because they have not yet seen the REAL thing. They have just seen
the pictures. And mind you, the picture of the phone on this very page
does not do justice since it shows the phone when it is unlocked (opened).
When it is opened, it is SLIM, unlike other clamshell phones. And when
it is closed, it is SMALL and slim- take another brand clamshell phone
and place it beside this one and you'll get what I mean. So go to your
nearest Nokia store and see it with your own eyes to judge. Btw, to
see how the phone looks like when it is closed, here is the link
2) It is ugly: WRONG. The design is very chic. It is slim, sleek, slender.
Any girl would love it. It is very feminine, so to speak. It is not
bulky like most clamshell phones are. To see how sleek it looks, view
this link 3)
For a more just and elaborate review on the product, view this link.
Another feature I like about this phone is that it is very, very light.
The only down thing about it is no camera. However, it can receive and
send images via MMS text. And for such a stylish, sleek, feminie phone,
I'd thank the manufacturers for the affordable price!

number of things on the phone. One was the very low volume of the ringing

features even though it had been advertised as the phone for the "professional

Just great simple phone! Oustanding design, I find brown colour the
best. The battery is very, very good (stand by mode up to 12days) Not
too many features? For what? For this price (129 EUR) this is the best
Nokia I've ever had. I love it and I'm sure you'll fall in love too

m8, if you want a flip phone which is functional and inexpencive this
is the one for you. good coverage, no found firmware problems. you can
be a prat and go for all the other features like a camera and internet
but really, why dont u get a digial camera and a dsl. a phone is a phone,
not all the rest of it.

Belive me... it`s just a phone. No more. And look nice. For camera and
games take a smart phone. Don`t have bluetooh or infrared .... that`s
bad. But like i sad ... IT`S JUST A PHONE

It's a pretty good phone for those who are tight on budget or for those
who just want an extra mobile phone. Not much features but the design
is quite good. The price is right! Can't wait to get one as an extra
phone for my prepaid account...

I've got it yesterday, i chose it because of its simplicity... I only
use my phone to call and get sms / mms. The 2650 is what people who
don't care about [useless] gadgets on mobile phones. [ i'm very happy
with it. ]

This is a phone for the many who don't care about videocameras, Palmtop
features and extensive gaming. It has all you need to make a phone call
and send an SMS now and again. The result is that is if free with almost
any subscription. And it looks different from the other clamshells.
I wish more manufacturers got the point that the professional user is
looking for style, and do not wish to pay for features they will never
use.
