Miele KDN 12823 S-1 review
|Review: March 2016|
In a nutshell: If you think they don't make them like they used to, the Miele KDN12823 S-1 will prove you wrong! With its boxy retro styling and solid build, this is a practical fridge-freezer with a strong emphasis on quality. Its EasyOpen handles make it super-easy to open. It's completely frost-free, and offers plenty of fridge space, with a simple uncluttered layout.
The Miele KDN 12823 S-1 is a smaller version of the Miele KFN 12924SD-1 fridge-freezer we reviewed in detail. The KDN 12823 S-1 is shorter, with a smaller freezer section, but is otherwise the same.
The reduced freezer compartment makes it a touch quieter and more energy efficient, but everything else is the same.
Miele KDN 12823 S-1 features include:
- Energy efficiency class: A+
- Annual energy consumption: 305 kwh
- Net fridge capacity: 228 litres
- Net freezer capacity: 88 litres
- 4 star freezer rating
- Noise level: 42dB
- Climate class: SN-T
- Dimensions (H x W x D): 182 cm x 60 cm x 63 cm

I would like to use just the freezer, is it possible to switch off the fridge and use only the freezer?

After 4 years of having this appliance, it has started making loud, irritating noises. It's still works fine in that the food is cold. As it's out of warranty it will cost a lot to get Miele to take a look at it - and it was very pricey to start with.
Also it seems to retain a lot of moisture in the salad drawers which can make the veg wet.
Rather disappointed as I expected better from Miele.
