LG Optimus L3 E400 Review

  Review: April 2012

Phone rating: 4 stars

In a nutshell: The LG Optimus L3 E400 is an entry-level Android smartphone with a smart, compact design. You get a lot for your money, but there are many compromises in fitting a smartphone into such a small, cheap package.

Best buy: *Free* from the Carphone Warehouse (Black or White); or on Pay as you Go for £49.99 from O2.

The LG Optimus L3 is quite a funky little phone. Priced at the budget end, it's compact, yet stylish, with metallic edge strips giving it an upmarket look. This is a good introduction to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), giving a lot for your money (comparable to the best-selling Samsung Galaxy Mini), but in a package that's more mini than the Mini! Good battery life and a fairly fast processor are its good points, but it's compromised by a low resolution screen, small internal memory and basic camera.

Features of the LG Optimus L3 include:

  • 3 megapixel camera
  • Video recording
  • Display: Capacitive TFT touchscreen with multi-touch zooming, 256,000 colours, 320 x 240 pixels (3.2 inches) with auto-rotate
  • A-GPS receiver with digital compass and Google Maps with Turn-by-Turn Navigation
  • Music player
  • FM radio
  • Messaging: SMS, MMS, Email, Google Talk (Instant Messaging)
  • Ringtones: MP3 ringtones
  • Internet: GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA (3.6 Mbps)
  • Processor: 800MHz
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm audio jack
  • Memory: microSD memory card slot (up to 32GB)
  • Vibration alert
  • Quadband GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) plus HSPA/WCDMA (900/1700/2100 MHz)
  • Size: 103 x 62 x 11.9 mm
  • Weight: TBC
  • Battery: 1540 mAh

Just found out that the L3 is not Staffordshire Bull Terrier proof.
Great phone though, enjoyed using it very much and found it good value for money so I will get a new one but keep it away from Mungo in future.

Had this phone since last November just to try android without spending much money, so far I have been very impressed with it.
It has been said that the screen resolution is not great however it looks fine to me and is one of the most responsive touch screens that I have ever used.
There are lots of free apps online that it will except even some that 'play store' say are incompatable.
In short, the best £40 I ever spent.

Iv had my L3 for a few weeks now its amazing . It has a massive 1500mh battery and iv found it lasts more than 2 days thats brilliant for a smart phone my last didnt last all day.the camera is 3mp its good for a quick pic .iv managed to store all my music on the 1gb internal memory . Or expand it if i want too. Its running gingerbread googles android version. The screen is large enough to see any e mails or text
I would wholly recomend this handset for the price you pay
