LG GSL325PVQV review
|Review: March 2016|
In a nutshell: The LG GSL325PVQV American-style fridge-freezer is one of our top-rated kitchen appliances. It combines stunning designer looks with easy-to-open doors, a chilled water & ice dispenser, masses of storage, and a price that's really not unreasonable.
Design & features
The LG GSL325PVQV is a mid-range American-style fridge-freezer that looks just as good as the most expensive models. With its satin-smooth Platinum Silver finish, it's both gorgeous to look at and easy to clean. The ultra-modern chilled water & ice dispenser in the freezer door looks stylish, and is very convenient.
The appliance is solidly constructed, with a very high quality feel, and we love the way the doors can be opened with virtually no effort.
The GSL325 has a 90cm width and is much deeper than standard fridge-freezers, so it will need to be carefully positioned in your kitchen.
The interior space isn't quite as huge as LG's GSL545NSYV, but it's pretty massive all the same. The fridge and freezer compartments are well designed, with good use of space in both sections. Some space is lost due to the ice dispenser and water tank, but this is a necessary compromise. Both compartments use LED lighting and are totally frost-free.
Efficiency, noise & reliability
The LG GSL325 is A+ rated for energy efficiency, and uses 445 kWh per year. It's more efficient than many cheaper fridge-freezers, but nevertheless because of its huge size it uses more electricity than smaller models.
One feature that stands out is how quiet it is, thanks to its use of LG's linear compressor technology.
The linear compressor also helps make the appliance reliable, and in fact LG provides a full 10 year warranty on the compressor, which is the most expensive part of the appliance to replace. Since the build quality and finish of the rest of the components seems first rate, we think that this machine has the potential to last for many years, making it a star buy.
Conclusion - a top value American-style fridge-freezer
So the LG GSL325PVQV isn't a cheap product by any stretch of the imagination, but for an appliance of its type it's very competitively priced. We'd rate it as an excellent choice if you're searching for a premium product but your budget is limited.
In many ways, this is as good as any fridge-freezer you can find. It certainly has the looks, and the convenience of an ice/water dispenser, plus excellent build quality, plenty of storage, and super-quiet operation. It's not the very largest fridge-freezer available, but it's huge by most standards. Some people seem to find the water dispenser a touch fiddly, but that's probably the only issue we can identify with this appliance.
We give it four-and-a-half stars out of five!
