LG 47LM760T review

 Review: November 2012

Rating: 5 stars

In a nutshell: A truly outstanding 47 inch LED TV in all respects.

The LG 47LM760T is the 42-inch version of the LG 42LM760T that we've previously reviewed in detail - see our detailed review of that for more.

Everything we praised about the 42 inch model is here too, but with an even bigger screen. Needless to say, this is a simply outstanding TV.

The razor-thin design works even better in the 47 inch model, making for a very futuristic yet smart look that will fit any style of room, provided it's large enough to handle a TV of this size.

The picture quality is breathtaking on the 47 inch screen, and is one of the best in its class. In our review of the 42LM760T we praised it for having one of the best LED displays we've seen, with impressive contrast, no evidence of clouding or of motion blur and good viewing angles too. 3D performance is just as good, provided you don't get too close. LG are very generous with their 3D glasses, and the sales package includes no fewer than 7 pairs of glasses (4 x 3D Glasses, 2 x Dual Play Glasses, 1 x Clip-on).

Audio quality could be better, but is no worse than similar TVs from other manufacturers.

LG's Smart TV is brilliant, with everything included from the BBC iPlayer, LoveFilm and Netflix to social media including facebook and twitter.

You can access your home network via the built-in Wi-Fi or ethernet options, and with DLNA support you can easily stream music, videos and photos stored on your PC, laptop or smartphone. There are also 4 HDMI and 3 USB connections, plus a full range of digital and audio sockets. A Freeview HD tuner is also included.

Finally, it's worth noting that this is one of the few A+ energy-rated televisions available, with an astonishingly low average power consumption of just 64W in normal mode.

We called the 42LM760T the best 42 inch TV we've reviewed. With an even bigger screen for just £150 or so extra, the 47LM760T seems like an even better prospect. Just be aware that at this size, there are plasma TVs that may also be worth your consideration. Nevertheless, we don't think you'll be disappointed if you choose this one.

Sweet, I got the LG 47LM760T in July before the Olympics and it is superb. Friends and family comment on how clear and crisp images are and although 3D doesn't get used much it is good for a movie night every now and then. Stand out feature is the lack of a bezel meaning almost edge to edge viewing. Smart TV function is great too although internet browser is slow. Easily the best TV I've owned!
