LG 47LM670T review

 Review: November 2012

Rating: 5 stars

In a nutshell: This 47 inch TV combines stunning looks with outstanding picture quality, connectivity and Smart TV functionality.

We've previously reviewed the LG 42LM670T and everything that we said about that holds true about the 47 inch model. Except more so!

The ultraslim Cinema Screen design with its narrow bezel and metallic details looks even better in 47 inches than in 42 inches. It's gorgeous.

Similarly, the picture quality is even better with 47 inches of screen. LG's Triple XD Engine and "LED Plus" local-dimming technology work brilliantly together with the high-quality IPS LCD panel to deliver dark blacks, bright whites, plenty of contrast, good viewing angles and little if any motion blur. It's one of the best pictures we've seen on any 47 inch TV.

3D performance is equally impressive from the passive 3D display, and with 4 pairs of glasses included in the sales package, there's nothing to complain about here.

Audio quality could be better, but is on a par with similar TVs from Samsung.

Smart TV is brilliant, with everything included from the BBC iPlayer, LoveFilm and Netflix to social media including facebook and twitter.

You can access your home network via the built-in Wi-Fi or ethernet options, and with DLNA support you can easily stream music, videos and photos stored on your PC, laptop or smartphone. There are also 4 HDMI and 3 USB connections, plus a full range of digital and audio sockets. A Freeview HD tuner is also included.

Finally, if eco-performance is high on your list, you won't do better than LG. This is one of the few A+ energy-rated televisions available, with an astonishingly low average power use of just 63W.

For the money, this is an absolutely brilliant TV, and quite possibly the best LED TV you can get for £1000. There's really no need to spend more.
