Hotpoint WMUD9627P review

 Review: January 2014

Rating: 3 stars

In a nutshell: The Hotpoint WMUD9627P is essentially the same as the WMUD962P but with the addition of a Steam Refresh cycle. This is a 20 minute programme that uses just steam to freshen up clothes and remove smells. The machine has a large 9kg capacity, fast 1600rpm spin speed, A++ energy rating and is a versatile and good value machine for family laundry.

Machine is just 14 months old and has started making an awful loud shrieking/grinding sound during spin cycle. Turns out the drum bearings have had it. In this model, (and other recent Hotpoint (Indesit) machines), the bearings are not replacable. The whole drum assembly has to be replaced. Cost is nearly 200 without call out or labour charge. Hotpoint aren't interested after the 12 month warranty has expired.
I am just going to buy another machine - and it won't be a Hotpoint/Indesit.
