Hoover WDYN654D review

 Review: February 2015

Rating: 2 stars

In a nutshell: The Hoover WDYN654D is a slimline washer dryer with a small load capacity. It's cheap, but Hoover isn't a brand with a reliable reputation, and it's a noisy machine to have in your kitchen. We'd recommend it only if your available space is truly cramped.

We need this washing machine for its size, but we just lost our second one - each lasting 3 years. On both occasions the electronic side was working fine but the drum corrodes and drops. Really frustrating :(

The program options are good but it has a recurring problem whereby the machine will sound like it is filling with water, rotate a few times then start again and will just continue doing this indefinitely until you turn it off. I have a second machine so i then have to just transfer it all to the other machine. Obv most people don't have a second machine! Despite sounding like it's filling with water there is only a small amount of water in the drum. I've had engineers out a few times who have replaced the board -that seemed to fix things for a while but then it started again intermittently. I have phoned the help desk who said that you have to weigh the clothes first and not just have large things (towels / quilt covers) but to ensure there is a mixture - not v realistic advise! Never had to do that for any other machine. Another issue is that the machine moves around loads on a 1400 spin, despite being fitted more than once by the engineer, that has caused the unit it is in to be damaged. Another more manageable problem is that the sensor dryer only gets things semi dry, so if you thought you could go out, come back to dry bedding, think again. Shame because if you leave things semi dry for too long things could start to gather mould on them-not ideal if you are an allergy sufferer. All in all massively disappointed.

Seems this is an unfair review of this machine.Surprised the engineers did anything in the first place. The machine is designed to use less water depending on what's in the drum inorder to save water it adds a little water every 10 minutes during the cycle which is normal. As for jumping around on fast spin with little weight in the drum it will spin and jump hence why there is a spin selector to reduce the spin speed. As for clothes coming out damp because you put it on wrong drying settings or overload the drum and I don't find it noisey at all. Most times it's not the machines that are at fault but the user.
