Bosch KGN34VW25G review

 Review: October 2015

Rating: 4 stars

In a nutshell: The Bosch KGN34VW25G is a slimline fridge-freezer with a good balance between fridge and freezer space. Finished in White, it's a quality product and feels built to last. The interior is mostly well designed, and there are a good range of useful features, including auto defrosting. The price is competitive and the appliance should provide years of trouble-free use.

Best buy: Bosch KGN34VW25G White from Currys (£419.99)

Design & features

The Bosch KGN34VW25G is a tall but slim fridge-freezer, designed to make good use of a narrow space.

The appliance has a plain White finish and seems well-made and solid. The integrated door handles are easy to use and the doors seal well without being difficult to open. Inside, the safety glass shelves and plastic fittings feel sturdy and unlikely to break. LED lighting supplies bright light and a simple-to-use control panel at the top is easy to reach. Both fridge and freezer defrost automatically, so there's no build-up of ice.

There's a good balance here between fridge and freezer space, with a particularly generous freezer capacity given the relatively narrow width of the appliance. The fridge section makes good use of the available space, with 4 glass shelves, 3 door shelves and a CrisperBox, designed to keep fruit and veg fresh. There's also a removable bottle rack. Our only worry about the interior is that the upper door shelves lack height - the risk of a glass bottle toppling out does give us some cause for concern.

Efficiency, noise & reliability

The KGN34VW25G has an A+ efficiency rating, which is typical of most modern fridge-freezers. Its noise rating is also average, at 42dB.

The appliance looks and feels very solidly built, and Bosch enjoys a good reputation for reliability, giving us confidence that this appliance should give you years of trouble-free use. It comes with a two-year guarantee.

Conclusion - a good option for a smaller kitchen

The KGN34VW25G squeezes a good amount of storage capacity out of a narrow space, with a good balance between refrigeration and freezing sections. It's well-built and practical, with ergonomics that make it easy to live with. Auto-defrosting is another life-enhancing feature. Energy efficiency and noise levels are average, and the price is competitive, making it a good choice in our opinion.
