Best washing machine under £300 - 2016
By S21, 27 May 2016, last updated 17 Nov 2016
A good washing machine for under £300 is a tough call, and many brands are completely ruled out at this price point. But the savvy shopper can still pick up a good product even at this price. At S21, we've picked out the 3 best buys for 2016, updated ready for Black Friday and the Christmas season.
1. Bosch WAB28261GB
Bosch machines are a rare find in the under-£300 category, but the Bosch WAB28261GB just makes it in, although it's right at the upper price limit.
This machine is a compact model with a small 6kg wash load - ideal for a smaller household. It's easy to use, with a handy LED display and push button controls as well as a rotary dial.
Energy efficiency is a very high A+++, and the machine has a decent 1400rpm spin speed. Bosch machines have a strong reputation for reliability, and this machine is well built.
It's a modern machine with a good range of wash options, including a 15 minute or 30 minute quick wash, and the added convenience of a delay start. However, it can be quite noisy in operation.
2. Beko WX943440W
Budget manufacturer Beko is always a favourite in the entry-level sector, and the Beko WX943440 is the cheapest of our selection, and is outstandingly-good value.
This is a high capacity machine, with a family-sized 9kg wash load - large enough to handle a duvet. It also has the same high A+++ energy efficiency of our other recommended machines.
Surprisingly for a budget machine, the Beko is fitted with a Pro-Smart inverter motor, making it very quiet in operation, and with a 10-year warranty on the motor.
We like the large control panel display, and the controls are very easy to use on this model, with an easy-turn rotary dial and buttons.
With a spin speed of 1400rpm, this model seems to offer everything we could want, and it's very well priced too.
3. Bosch WAE24167GB
We've picked another entry-level Bosch machine as our third choice.
The Bosch WAE24167GB sits right at the bottom of Bosch's range, and is a basic machine with a rotary dial and push-button controls, but no LED display.
It's another 6kg model, again with a very high A+++ energy efficiency rating.
Its main drawbacks are its low 1200rpm maximum spin speed and the fact that it can be quite noisy while washing.
Although it's been stripped of most high-end features, it's still a reliable machine, coming from German manufacturer Bosch, and is recommended if you're on a tight budget.
