Best washing machine under £400 - 2015
By S21, 4 Nov 2015
If you're willing to spend between £300 and £400 on a washing machine, you have a much greater choice than in the under-£300 range. Brands like Bosch and Samsung should be on your radar in this price bracket. The choice is wide, so we've picked the 3 best washing machines in this price range for 2015.
Today's best buy: Bosch WAQ283S1GB from Hughes (£349.00)
1. Bosch WAQ283S1GB
German manufacturer Bosch enjoys a strong reputation for quality and reliability, and the Bosch WAQ283S1GB is a mid-range machine with a lot going for it.
This is a very popular washing machine with a good family-sized 8kg capacity, a decent 1400 rpm maximum spin speed, and an incredible A+++ -30% efficiency rating. That means it uses 30% less energy than the EU's maximum A+++ rating, making it extremely cheap to run.
It comes with a wide range of programmes, including a Super Quick 15 minute freshen-up, and you can choose between speed and energy efficiency for each wash. There are handy features such as a 24 hour time delay and a child lock.
But the feature that we like best at S21 is the outstanding quietness of this washer. In both wash and spin modes, it's one of the quietest machines you can buy.
2. Beko WMG10454W
We've picked out budget manufacturer Beko's high-end products as our second choice in this price category. The Beko WMG10454W is significantly more upmarket than Beko's typical products, and has some great features.
Most notable is the machine's enormous 10kg load capacity, making it big enough to wash duvets and full-sized family loads. Its design is both stylish and practical, with the extra-large door allowing easy access.
It's very energy efficient too, with an A+++ rating, and has a moderate 1400 rpm spin speed, with a spin class of B.
One negative for this machine is that it's slightly noisier than average when washing, but in spin mode it's no noisier than rival appliances.
Beko enjoys a good reputation for reliability, despite being known as a budget manufacturer, and we feel confident that this machine will be a good buy.
3. Samsung WF80F5E0W2W
For our third choice, we've picked out one of Samsung's entry-level models. The Samsung WF80F5E0W2W Ecobubble washing machine is a smart-looking machine with an advanced wash system, plenty of programmes, and some advanced features such as automated fault detection and diagnosis.
It has a good 8kg load capacity, making it suitable for a family, and an excellent A+++ energy efficiency rating.
One feature that's not so good is the slower-than-average 1200 rpm spin speed. It's also a little noisier than our other two choices.
The machine is a little pricey for what you get, but Samsung enjoys a very strong reputation for building reliable washing machines, and we feel that this machine will prove to be a good investment.
