AEG S53620CTXF review
|Review: October 2015|
In a nutshell: The AEG S53620CTXF fridge-freezer is one of our favourites. It's expensive as slimline models go, but is a stunningly beautiful appliance with rock-solid build quality, backed up by AEG's top reputation for reliability. It has one of the best interior layouts of any fridge-freezer we've reviewed, and it's one of the most energy efficient you can buy. If you can afford the price, we think you'll be delighted with this appliance, and it should give you years of trouble-free service.
Design & features
AEG has made a stunning appliance with the S53620CTXF fridge-freezer. Tall and slim, with a gorgeous Silver and Stainless Steel door, it will immediately add wow factor to any kitchen. The appliance is very solidly built, with a feel of total quality, and the metal surfaces have an anti-fingerprint coating that keeps them looking shiny and new.
Despite its slim 60cm size, the S53620CTXF offers a good amount of fridge and freezer space, with a 60/40 split. The freezer contains three compartments, while the fridge has three adjustable shelves, two salad boxes, a metal wine rack, and particularly versatile door storage. AEG's unique CustomFlex system lets you configure door storage to suit your needs.
The appliance is very easy to maintain, being completely frost-free, and very easy to keep clean, thanks to the intelligent interior design. We also like the easy-to-use LCD control panel.
Efficiency, noise & reliability
The AEG S53620CTXF has an unusually high A++ efficiency rating, saving you around a quarter off your electricity bill compared with most rival products. Disappointingly however, with a noise level of 43dB, it's no quieter than most other fridge-freezers of this type.
AEG, like other German brands, has a very good reputation for quality and reliability. The extremely high build quality of this appliance backs this up, so even at its relatively high price, we'd expect it to be a sound investment.
Conclusion - a top-rated buy
The AEG S53620CTXF is a superb fridge-freezer. Despite its relatively high price, we think it offers truly excellent value for money. Packing in a very good amount of storage into a narrow space, we really can't praise the looks, build quality and thoughtful design of this appliance more highly. It's highly energy-efficient too, and the only reason it gets a 4-star rating instead of 5 stars, is its slightly high noise levels.
