AEG L69680FL review
|Review: April 2016|
In a nutshell: The AEG L69680FL is a well-priced washing machine from the premium German manufacturer. With a family-sized 8kg wash load, a fast 1600rpm spin speed, high energy efficiency, and quiet operation, it's a safe bet for your laundry.
The L69680FL is an affordable washing machine from AEG, the German company with a well deserved reputation for quality. It's a solidly-built machine, but not quite as bulletproof in feel as machines from arch-rival, Miele.
Instead of a rotary dial control, the L69680FL uses a programmable button control panel with an LED display. It's a high-tech look, but perhaps less easy to use than machines that use a traditional rotary dial to select the programme.
Washing and performance
The machine's 8kg capacity is a good size for a family. The machine's AutoSense technology automatically senses the load and adjusts the time, water and energy usage to suit.
The machine has a higher spin speed than many others, at 1600rpm, giving it an A rating for spin efficiency, and helping to reduce drying times. It's quiet in use, especially when washing, although not quite as super silent when spinning at full speed.
It's a very energy efficient machine overall, with an A+++ rating for its wash efficiency. The price to pay for this efficiency is longer wash cycles, and the L69680FL can take a lot longer than older machines to complete a full 60° cotton wash.
There's a good range of wash programmes available, including Wool Plus, Easy Iron and Delicates. An Extra Rinse option is available, and we'd recommend this to remove as much detergent residue as possible and leave clothes feeling soft.
It really does seem like the Germans know how to build reliable appliances. AEG has a strong reputation for reliability, and the build of the AEG L69680FL seems solid, even though it's a mid-priced model.
The inverter motor and anti-vibration technology that make the machine run quietly also extend its lifespan, and we expect this to be a long-lasting and reliable product.
Conclusion - good value, high quality
AEG washing machines aren't the cheapest washing machines on offer, but this mid-range model is competitively priced. It compares favourably with similarly-priced machines from Bosch, and should generally outperform cheaper brands such as Hotpoint and Hoover.
The button-operated control panel may not be the simplest to use, but it's hardly a major stumbling block, and overall this is a highly recommended appliance.
